General Buster (brvt.)

Meet General Headstrong Buster (brvt.) commander of the Finklestein Union 7th Dragoons.

The 7th is most famous for its misfortune at the Battle of the Little Big Bone at the start of Mordred's Witchlands campaign.

Was well in advance of the Finklestien contingent when he happened on the village of the Don Knotts Cossacks.

With the devil-may-care approach that cemented his reputation as a beau sabreur in the struggle against Krautia, this consummate cavalry dog fell on the enemy without hesitation.

By the time his hounds had discovered the true nature of the vile undead, it was too late.

While it is true the 7th were the first to learn the secret of the Witchlands, it is also true that none of them survived to tell the tale.

Notes: General Buster was meant to be Wags the Dog in the cult of Wig-El. As such he sat base coated white on the shelf of my painting area for months.

While working on the various halflings and Obidiah Hogswill, I just grabbed the General and started painting, or more properly inking.

Every once in a while I decide to paint a white base coated figure near entirely with inks. The effect can be quite nice but once one strays outside the lines, proper paint is required as inks will not as rule over ink one another.

In this case the General's gloves and metal bits are painted. The yellow bits are also largely painted simply because yellow ink does not cover other colors...at all really.

The rest is mostly ink.

The figure is an Ostarian Artillery officer available from Alternative Armies.

Thanks to this bit of madness I now need to organize a unit of mounted and foot dogs to act as the 7th. Have several ideas but this was not in my plans before today.

Obidiah and More Halflings

Here's the latest batch.

Obidiah and five more 80's halflings.

Plenty (perhaps too many) photos this time around. I'll post one or two of each figure with some notes and then pile on all of the others at the end for those of you who may wish to see more.

This one, obviously, is Obidiah Hogswill. I am very pleased with the way he turned out.

What's in his hat and why does he keep speaking to it?

It's meant to be a stolen miniature that he believes is his "Muvver". Sadly with my skills it looks like he just may have been sick!

This chap hasn't a name. Clearly he is in desperate circumstances as no halfling would willing waste a pie by throwing it unless he had no other options.

This one stated out as "The Major" a retired military type who has become a power in local village circles. As you will see when it came to his shield I went off the rails though and now I have no idea who or what he is.

Not very military that is for certain. Perhaps he served in the colonies?

This is Larry.

Here he is with his brother Daryl and his other brother Daryl.

Daryl painted a "D" on his shield so he could quickly tell it part from his brother's.

Larry and the Daryls make their home in the woods on the outskirts of the village.

They eek out  meager existence through trapping. 

Just what they trap is open to discussion in village circles and no proper halfling will share their table.

Colours for the 33rd South Mordor Regiment

No painting today I'm afraid. 

Got caught up fiddling with a new (to me) graphics program.

Here then are the colours of Colonel Simerington's 33rd South Mordor Regiment.

The regiment is most famous for the inclusion of Richard Sharke among its officers, and most infamous for its inclusion of Obidiah Hogswill among its sergeants.

Undoubtedly the more infamous for the loss of the regimental colours in a skirmish in Catalucia but that must wait to be gamed out in due course.

Wandering Halfling Templars

Another three figures done.

Three wandering Termplars back from the wars. They are pilgrims from nowhere and they have arrived...

Not sure if this chap is a leader or a henchman. He certainly looks like a hardhalfling. Maybe he is the one who asks the questions? Or rather extracts the answers?

This fellah is rather mysterious and brooding. Need to fix that spot above his nose BTW.

He's got a sardonic smile too!

This one is clearly muscle. His Elder Sign is added security when he takes on demonic foes.

Finally, Obidah has finally been primed.
